Classic Lasagna

  • Ingredients:

– Nonstick cooking spray for greasing
– 1 lb ground beef, cooked and fat drained
– 4 cups marinara sauce
– 4 cups whole milk ricotta cheese
– 2 cups grated parmesan cheese
– 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
– 2 tablespoons fresh basil, chopped
– 1 teaspoon kosher salt
– ½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
– 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
– 15 lasagna noodles, cooked according to package instructions
– 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

Preparation:

1. Preheat oven to 350ºF (180ºC) and lightly grease a 9 x 13-inch baking dish with nonstick spray.
2. Mix cooked ground beef with marinara sauce in a large bowl.
3. In another bowl, combine ricotta cheese, parmesan cheese, parsley, basil, salt, pepper, and olive oil.
4. Spread 1 cup of meat sauce on the bottom of the baking dish. Layer with 5 cooked lasagna noodles.
5. Spread 2 cups of ricotta mixture over noodles and top with 1 cup of mozzarella cheese.
6. Repeat layering process, ending with a layer of meat sauce and mozzarella cheese.
7. Bake for 25–30 minutes until cheese is melted and sauce is bubbling.
8. Broil for 1–2 minutes until cheese is golden brown.
9. Let cool for 30-45 minutes before serving.
