Tuna and Broccoli Pasta Bake

Need a quick and healthy meal that’s also comforting? This Tuna and Broccoli Pasta Bake is your go-to! With a creamy cheese sauce and chunks of tender tuna, it’s a family favorite that’s ready in no time. Bonus: finishing it under the grill adds a crispy, golden top!
  • Ingredients:
  1. 200g dried short pasta shapes (fusilli or penne)
  2. 250g small broccoli florets (frozen or fresh)
  3. 40g butter
  4. 40g plain flour
  5. 600ml semi-skimmed milk
  6. 75g mature cheddar cheese
  7. Salt and freshly ground black pepper
  8. 185g tinned tuna in water or brine, drained
  9. 2 firm, ripe tomatoes, sliced (optional)
  • Method:
  1. Cook Pasta & Broccoli: Boil pasta in a large saucepan. Add broccoli for the last 2-3 minutes of cooking. Drain and set aside.
  2. Make Cheese Sauce: In a separate saucepan, melt butter, add flour, and gradually whisk in milk until smooth and thick. Stir in half of the cheese and season with salt and pepper.
  3. Assemble Bake: Combine pasta and broccoli in a shallow ovenproof dish. Flake tuna on top. Pour cheese sauce over, add tomato slices (if using), and sprinkle with remaining cheese.
  4. Grill to Perfection: Place under a hot grill for 4-5 minutes until the cheese is melted and golden.
