Potato-Stuffed

Here’s a recipe for Potato-Stuffed Bread Balls that are perfect for a hearty snack or appetizer!
  • Ingredients:
For the Bread Dough:
  1. 500g plain flour
  2. 1 tsp salt
  3. 1 tbsp yeast
  4. 150ml warm water
  5. 150ml milk
  6. 3 tbsp olive oil
For the Potato Filling:
  1. 2-3 medium potatoes, peeled and diced
  2. 1 onion, finely chopped
  3. 2-3 garlic cloves, minced
  4. 2 tbsp olive oil
  5. 1 tsp dried herbs (e.g., thyme, rosemary)
  6. Salt and pepper to taste
  7. Optional: 1 cup grated cheese, cooked vegetables, or cooked meats
  • Instructions:
Prepare the Bread Dough:
In a large bowl, mix the flour with salt and yeast.
Add the olive oil, warm water, and milk. Knead until a smooth dough forms.
Cover with a cloth and let the dough rise for at least 30 minutes, or until doubled in size.
Make the Potato Filling:
Boil the diced potatoes in salted water until tender, about 10-15 minutes. Drain and mash.
Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the onions and garlic, cooking until softened.
Stir the onions and garlic into the mashed potatoes. Add herbs, salt, and pepper. Mix well. If using, stir in cheese, vegetables, or meats.
Assemble the Bread Balls:
Preheat the oven to 200°C (390°F).
Divide the risen dough into small pieces, about the size of a golf ball.
Flatten each piece of dough into a small disc. Place a spoonful of the potato mixture in the center of each disc.
Gather the edges of the dough around the filling and pinch to seal. Roll each filled dough ball into a smooth ball.
Bake:
Place the stuffed dough balls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush the tops with a little olive oil.
Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.
Serve:
Let the bread balls cool slightly before serving. Enjoy them warm!
