Orange Marmalade Bread

Sweet, tangy, and oh-so-delicious

This Orange Marmalade Bread is the perfect treat for breakfast, a snack, or even a light dessert. It’s incredibly easy to make and fills your kitchen with the most wonderful aroma.

  • Ingredients:
  1. 2½ cups sifted all-purpose flour
  2. 1 tsp baking soda (Arm & Hammer or Cow Brand)
  3. 1 tsp salt
  4. ¾ cup sugar
  5. 1 beaten egg
  6. ½ cup thick orange marmalade
  7. ¼ cup white (distilled) vinegar
  8. 1 cup sweet milk
  9. 2 tbsp melted shortening
  • Instructions:
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9 x 5 x 8-inch loaf pan.
  2. Sift together flour, baking soda, salt, and sugar.
  3. In a separate bowl, combine the beaten egg with marmalade, then stir in vinegar, milk, and melted shortening.
  4. Pour the liquid ingredients into the dry ingredients all at once. Stir until just blended (don’t over-mix).
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan.
  6. Bake for 1 hour, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  7. Enjoy a slice of this moist and flavorful bread with a cup of tea or coffee. It’s a delightful way to brighten up your day!
