- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp dried chilli flakes
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 1 slice bread (about 65g/2¼oz), blitzed to crumbs
- 3–4 tbsp vegetable oil
- To Serve:
- 4 burger buns, cut in half
- 3–4 ripe tomatoes, sliced
- Shredded iceberg lettuce
- Sauces of your choice, such as mayonnaise, mustard, or ketchup (optional)
Method:
- Cook the Potato:
- Boil the potato chunks until tender (12–15 minutes). Drain and let air dry.
- Prepare the Patties:
- Mash the kidney beans and cooked potato together in a bowl. Mix in chopped red onion, salt, chilli flakes, cumin, and breadcrumbs. Shape into four patties.
- Cook the Patties:
- Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Cook the patties for 3–4 minutes on each side until golden, adding a bit more oil as needed.
- Assemble:
- Toast the burger buns, then top with shredded lettuce and tomato slices. Place the hot patties on the buns and add your favorite sauces if desired.
