Sometimes, nothing beats a classic Spaghetti Bolognese that’s both simple and delicious. This recipe delivers a rich, hearty sauce with minimal fuss and a low cost, perfect for any night of the week!
- Ingredients:
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 400g/14oz beef mince
- 1 onion, diced
- 2 garlic cloves, chopped
- 100g/3½oz carrot, grated
- 2 x 400g tins chopped tomatoes
- 400ml/14fl oz stock (beef or any other)
- 400g/14oz dried spaghetti
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Method:
- Heat 1 tbsp olive oil in a large saucepan over medium heat. Add beef mince with a pinch of salt and pepper. Cook until well browned, then set aside.
- In the same pan, add another tbsp of olive oil. Sauté the onions with a pinch of salt until softened. Add garlic and cook for 2 minutes. Stir in the grated carrot.
- Return the browned mince to the pan, add chopped tomatoes and stir. Pour in the stock, bring to a simmer, and cook gently for 45 minutes, stirring occasionally. Season to taste.
- Cook spaghetti according to the packet instructions in salted boiling water. Drain and mix into the sauce.
